Sarah Thompson

Associate Director

Sarah is a regeneration specialist with over 20 years’ experience in economic development research and consultancy. Her expertise includes economic appraisal, economic impact assessment, case-making, programme and policy evaluation, research design and strategy development for LEPs, Mayoral Combined Authorities, HEIs, the third sector, local and central government. She is an experienced evaluator of projects, programmes and policies and provides guidance on evaluation techniques and the development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks.  

Sarah's work has included economic impact assessments and appraisals of capital and revenue interventions across a broad range of policy domains including enterprise, skills, regeneration and infrastructure. She has advised on the economic impacts of major developments and undertaken research to explore the economic contribution of specific growth sectors. She has experience of developing business cases based on the Treasury’s five case model and has advised on appraisal processes for major schemes, including the development of appraisal frameworks to support consistent assessment. Sarah's skills expertise has encompassed scoping work to inform policy development on education and skills issues; evaluations of labour market and workforce development programmes; research to inform the delivery and monitoring of skills interventions and analysis of initiatives supporting excluded target groups back into training or employment.
