Mary Dolphin

Researcher

Mary undertakes detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis across projects. Mary joined Metro Dynamics after completing a master's in development economics and policy at the University of Manchester. Her dissertation explored middle-class preferences for social spending and the causal influence this has on poverty across different Parliamentary constituencies, conducting a literature review and employing quantitative methods (regression analysis).

Prior to her master’s degree, Mary studied an undergraduate degree in Economics at Newcastle University. Her dissertation analysed the effects of place-based policies on local communities, with a focus on the BBC's move to Salford Quays. In addition to her studies, Mary volunteered at Society Matters, a charity providing social welfare courses to both public and private sector businesses. Her experiences and university research drove Mary’s interest in inclusive growth and spatial based analysis.
